MISSION: What does the CCA set out to do?

To instil in individuals the spirit of teamwork and tenacity.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: By the time the students leave the CCA, what characteristics do they exhibit?

1. To work as a team.

2. To strengthen their individual skills to be a versatile player in Badminton.

3. To be able to strategise during competitions.

LEARNING INDICATORS: How do we know our students have learnt?

1. Students show support for their teammates.

2. Students show progress in skill level from Secondary 1 to Secondary 5.

3. Students are able to vary their play depending on the opponents’ skills.

CCA-specific skills they can perform

The seven fundamental skills of badminton:

1. Grip - Back Hand/Forehand

2. Stance - Attacking Stance/Defensive Stance/Net Stance

3. Footwork - Move only 2-3 steps backward./Shuffle only 1 step sidewards./Move only 2-3 steps front

4. Serve - High Serve/Low Serve

5. Smash - Fore Hand Smash/Back Hand Smash/Jumping Smash

6. Drop Shot

7. Clear/Lob

CCA-specific knowledge they will acquire

Students are able to vary their play depending on the opponents’ skills.

CCA-specific attitudes they will form

Badminton is minimally a two-person sport. Playing against an opponent will not only help improve a player's game but also enables the player to cultivate good values such as fair play and sportsmanship. In case of doubles, a player gets a chance to partner up with another and learn the importance of teamwork.
